I created a template for my shadow priest, but the site seems to be considering my spec as holy. How do I change?

I'm a Holy Priest, but I sometimes get Shadow Priest gear indicated -- we both want haste, and spell power, and spirit, and so some gear that's intended for shadow also scores high for holy, and vice versa. You should still see that while (e.g.) the T7 holy gear might show up on your list, the T7 shadow gear will show up higher.

T8.5 Holy pants score higher for shadow because the T8.5 shadow pants were so poorly itemized. In fact the T8 shadow pants beat the T8.5 shadow pants. While we both want haste, it quickly looses value to a Shadowpreist once you can fit 2 Mind Flays in the cooldown of your Mind blast. At this point MB comes off of CD right as my 2nd MF finishes, and when in bloodlust I can toss in an extra instant cast, or VT.

This is not possible. All 25-tier gear is identical in stat-types but with a greater iLvL than its 10-tier equivalent. Tier 8.5 is simply better than the same tier 8 piece in every stat.

I assume you meant the tier 7.5 or the tier 7 is better than 8.5 or 8, because in the end crit is more useful for you once you hit a "soft haste cap". Or you might have instead meant that "even the tier 8 holy pants are better than 8.5 shadow pants" as you had already said 8.5 holy pants are better than 8.5 shadow.

Another thing to consider is while there is a soft haste cap for shadowpriests, you can reach that soft cap with fewer pieces of gear if you get high iLvl gear with haste on it -- it's not a worthless stat, you just need to focus more on crit with your non-set pieces. Half of the tier 8/8.5 Spriest gear has haste on it (technically 3/5, but the hat has both haste and crit so i'm not counting that) so you can account for the haste rating you expect to see on your tier gear ahead of time, 184 total for tier 8, 200 for 8.5

Finally, taking into account the set bonuses, I would be surprised to see a shadow take the 8.5 holy pants, intending on using them for shadow, if they picked up the token.
