This is just a new idea I had kicking around.
If you want to see what led to its inception, see my Enhancement Shaman post at
http://lootrank.freeforums.org/pve-enhancement-shaman-raid-dps-info-wotlk-3-1-t352.htmlIf you normalize your stat weights in a template such that you are actually putting in how much your DPS is increased per point of each stat, then LootRank will output approximately how much DPS each piece of gear is worth to you! You can even add up the value for each piece of gear you're wearing, and get a reasonable estimate for your DPS (of course certain trinkets / relics / set bonuses won't be counted). It's a pretty good approximation!
The idea is to make 1 point = 1 added DPS, so if adding 1 STR to your char adds 0.5 DPS, then your STR weighting should be 0.5
Go down the list of stats and weight them in the same manner, and LootRank doubles as both a gear-ranker
AND DPS calculator! You'll be able to see approximately how your DPS will change with certain gear changes, etc.
It can be difficult to determine how to weight your stats in such a manner. I play an Enhancement Shaman, and I determined all of my values through careful use of a Shaman DPS Simulator program called EnhSim (
http://www.enhsim.wikidot.com/)
Other classes may not have such a handy resource at their disposal -- good luck.
Here is how my LootRank looks when normalized to 1 point = 1 additional DPS:
Hungraa's LootRankJust thought this would be a cool new way to create stat weightings, so the output values wouldn't be so arbitrary.
Good luck!
