I'd like to see that too, but the data for this site is culled from wowhead.com, and wowhead doesn't specify if the item is alliance or horde.
Wowhead doesn't even know if it's alliance or horde, because unlike past items, Blizzard didn't put a comment in the item itself saying it's only usable by some races, and the item didn't drop due to a quest.
As far as Wowhead can tell, anyone can use either of those items. They can't tell that the alliance drape has never dropped for a tauren because they don't track who received it.
It also means that wowhead's percentage chance to drop is misleading. Wowhead says one has 8% chance, and the other has 9%. In reality there's about a 17% your cloak will drop and a 0% the other will drop.
Note: I am NOT affiliated with this site. Anything the site author says overrides me completely. This is just an observaton of a fellow user of this site.

Actually, the data comes from a variety of sources - but we do use wowhead's tooltip. But you are right, regardless of where the data comes from, we still can't automatically determine if an ToC item is horde or alliance. Tier pieces - sprt of, but others are more difficult.

You could however combine the entries of items with identical stats, and show something like "Hood of Clouded Sight / Helm of Clouded Sight" in the first column.
Which one applies can be sorted out by the user than and you would not have lots of double listings.

You can't easily automate this since some items in the game have identical stats (eg. the trinkets that drop off Corin Direbrew as part of brewfest) yet they aren't applicable to the Coliseum. There must be a better way

It wouldn't be perfect due to some incomplete fields here and there, but if you could match all stored data except for the name (ie. stats, slot, armor type, iLvl, drop location) you should avoid situations such as the brewfest trinkets being linked to the badge vendor trinkets. This would work better if it were a script that you could run once (per DB update) to generate an extra table or set of fields to parse when generating the loot pages.

I think I have found an automated way to do this. Leave it with me.

This has now been completed. Enjoy.
PS - be aware that not all items are correctly tagged as horde/alliance. We are sorting this out.
